Tim Mok joined the Local Government Commission in 2019 as the Greater Los Angeles Regional Coordinator for the CivicSpark program. He has 6 years of experience in the environmental non-profit sector where he advocated for environmental justice policies and laws, led environmental education and service learning workshops, and served as an AmeriCorps member. Tim has mentored high school students, and worked with them on implementing outdoor rock climbing programs and trail maintenance projects in state parks.
Tim advances equitable development and sustainability in his community by working with diverse stakeholders to improve Los Angeles’s Chinatown for all people. He’s led efforts to create an inclusive community plan, and is a regular contributor for WAPOW Magazine, a bilingual media project that promotes civic engagement and capacity building in Chinatown. He served as guest editor for their sustainability issue.
Tim has a M.S. in Regenerative Studies from Cal Poly Pomona and a B.S. in Biological Sciences from U.C. Riverside.
