Skylar Johnson

Skylar is currently a Sustainability Specialist for UC Davis Student Housing and Dining Services where she manages sustainability education and engagement programs for Student Housing residents, and large waste-diversion initiatives during residence hall move-in and move-out.

Before joining UC Davis, she served as a CivicSpark fellow at the Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District. As a fellow, she worked on several climate change capacity building projects focusing on organic waste diversion in schools and businesses, energy conservation, and climate action plan development.

In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, playing fetch with her dog, and riding her bike around the Davis green belt. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Anthropology from the University of California, Davis.

Fun fact: Growing up, I used to do barrel racing on horseback for fun!

Current fellows can ask me about: working in higher education, waste reduction and diversion, climate change communication.
