slo-logoCivicSpark is supported by the San Luis Obispo Air Pollution Control District in the central coast, where 4 AmeriCorps Members are working with 7 local government agencies to implement Climate Action Plans and sustainability initiatives.

Our Central Coast team, made up of Anna Johnson, Jason McCrea, and Anna Olsen is busy assisting seven local governments with implementation of two Climate Action Plan initiatives; creating a plan for solar permitting, while encouraging energy efficiency through community outreach.  The team is really beginning to see the fruits of their efforts. At a recent GHG Stakeholder meeting, one of their partners – a city planner– told the team, “Without CivicSpark we’d be getting nothing done on our Climate Action Plans!”

In addition to their core service, the team is also preparing to host an Energy Efficiency Block Party at the May San Luis Obispo Farmers Market where they will share education through activities and an Alternative Fuels Car Show.

The Civic Spark members have been very active, enthusiastic and engaged with our staff and have been a pleasure to work with.  Their outreach work and Anna Olsen’s communication has been wonderful.
