Laurel grew up in Santa Cruz, CA, where she spent her childhood exploring tidepools and hiking in the redwood forest. She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 2019 with a dual degree in Sociology and Global Environmental Politics. Immediately after graduation, she moved to Idaho for five months to work on a trail crew, and has since worked for a public lands district in the Bay Area as well as the Forest Service. She is passionate about the intersections between climate change management and land management, as well as fire ecology, and looks forward to putting these passions to work in Lake County.
