Yema graduated from University of California, Riverside with a BS in Psychology and a minor in Gender and Sexuality Studies, with a focus in sustainability studies. It was within her coursework that she further developed a passion for sustainability, environmental health, and social justice issues. She was very active in research during her undergraduate years, and she wrote a senior thesis that examined the personality traits associated with environmentally friendly plastic consumption. As a Los Angeles native, she is very excited to be working with LA Department of Public Health by assisting them with the Climate Change and Public Health Stakeholder Engagement Project. With this fellowship, Yema hopes to develop professional skills and obtain applied knowledge within this field that can be utilized when obtaining a Ph.D in Social/Personality Psychology.
