Marina Deligiannis

Staff Bio

Marina graduated in 2017 from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois where she earned her Geography and Environmental Sciences. Shortly after graduation, Marina went with the flow and made the move from the Prairie State to the Golden State to serve as a 2017-2018 CivicSpark Water Fellow with the Hidden Valley Lake Community Services District. During her service year, Marina conducted infiltration and inflow studies throughout the community’s collection system and spearheaded mitigation projects aimed to reduce the amount of stormwater entering the collection system.

During her service year, Marina quickly caught the Lake County bug and currently remains in Lake County where she serves as the Program Coordinator for the Lake County Water Resources Department and Watershed Protection District. As Program Coordinator, Marina is tasked with coordinating watershed management programs and outreach throughout her favorite watershershed, the Clear Lake Watershed!

One particular program Marina is excited to facilitate, is the management of the 13 groundwater basins throughout Lake County identified under California’s Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA). Lake County currently has one priority basin where Marina is spearheading the basin’s Groundwater Sustainability Agency, stakeholder outreach, and Groundwater Sustainability Plan to be successfully implemented by the SGMA deadline of January 31, 2022.
Current Fellows can ask her about: local government, watershed management, her rock collection, GIS, stakeholder & community outreach, California water policy, & groundwater.
