Izzy Goldfarb grew up in Minnesota, then moved to Los Angeles to earn a BA in Urban and Environmental Policy and a minor in American Studies from Occidental College. While at Occidental she engaged with various non-profit organizations that provide free legal services to low-income Angelenos. After four years living and learning in Los Angeles, she became aware of the city’s pitfalls that make it unlivable for many people. Izzy is looking forward to her next step; serving the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) as a Civic Spark Fellow because she will have the opportunity to contribute to work that makes Los Angeles a more livable city where all community members can thrive. Moreover, Izzy is excited to work on their affordable housing project because she is passionate and curious about the creative solutions to Los Angeles’ affordable housing crisis. Izzy hopes that this experience will inform future endeavors in public policy and urban planning.
