Region: Sacramento and NorCal
Alfonso grew up in the Watts neighborhood of Los Angeles, before moving to live in the City of Compton, CA. These two places shaped his passions to help and engage with people, as he feels that he has a strong understanding of the hardships some disadvantaged communities may face. A recent graduate of University of California, Irvine, Alfonso earned two degrees in Social Ecology and Urban Studies. Through his position at CivicSpark as a Resiliency Fellow with Lake County Special Districts, he hopes to develop a proper asset management system using GIS to alleviate some of the issues the community faces as a result of floods and wastewater.
