Fellow Bio:

Edgar Barraza was born in Los Angeles a first-generation college graduate from San Francisco State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies emphasizing on sustainability and social justice. Upon learning the deep-rooted social issues that are heavily integrated with environmental issues, he developed a passion for environmental justices aspiring to one day serve and empower all vulnerable communities. During his undergraduate career, Edgar interned at San Francisco Department of Environment and worked on energy efficiency ordinance for commercial buildings. His placement there gave him the inspiration to work at an environmental agency in the future determined to effectively integrate environmental justice efforts in local government policies. As a CivicSparks fellow, Edgar anticipates to further develop his skills that encompass energy efficiency along with renewable energy. Overall, Edgar ’s goal is to foster future environmental laws that both equally protect and benefit all communities.
