Fellow Bio:

Sarah Kuo is a recent graduate of the University of the Pacific class of 2017. She majored in Geological and Environmental Sciences and minored in Jazz studies and Sustainability and was the 2017 recipient of the John Hadmar Sticht Memorial Medal and the John Muir Center Outstanding Senior award. Her past internships include a National Science Foundation funded Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) in Belize on flood mitigation and citizen science GIS, multiple equitable food systems and sustainable agriculture projects in Masaya, Nicaragua, a GIS software integration internship with the County of San Joaquin, and an interactive 3D modeling project of Little Manila in Stockton, CA. During her time at Pacific, she was also a resident assistant, a peer educator for the Women’s Resource Center, Sustaining Pacific, and the Geosciences department, and heavily involved in campus organizations. She served as president of Soul Speaks, an advocacy through art club, was a member of the Black Student Union, and often collaborated through these clubs with Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan (MEChA), and Queer People of Color (QPOC) for various campus events. During her free time, Sarah enjoys reading, cooking, farming, and creating.
