Region: Greater Los Angeles – Climate
Project(s): County of Ventura Planning Division – Ventura County Coastal Resiliency and Local Coastal Program Update
From planting coffee plants in the jungles of Panama to aiding policy making on Capitol Hill, Angela Kim has exuded her passion for environmental issues. Angela is motivated by the exciting interplay between science and policy and has a BS in Biochemistry and a BA in Political Science from UCLA. Her interest in long-term environmental issues has led her to direct her studies to climate change impact assessment during her Master of Environmental Science degree at the University of Toronto. Climate change encompasses Angela’s passion for the environment, long-term strategic thinking, the science-policy interface, and international cooperation. Although born in Brazil to Korean parents, Angela spent her formative years in Los Angeles and is ecstatic about working on local climate issues in Southern California. While she believes that mitigation is an important step in addressing climate change, Angela is more interested in how local communities will adapt to its imminent impacts. She looks forward to joining the Ventura County Coastal Resilience Project and learning how this coastal county can prepare for sea level rise.
