Fellow Bio:

Originally from Seattle, Washington, Sam Kennard graduated in June from Santa Clara University with a degree in Environmental Studies. With an emphasis in sustainability, he focused on understanding concepts related to earth systems science, energy production and resource management. Sam lived in South America for six months before attending college to explore different cultures and environments, as well as improve his Spanish skills. He also enjoys pursuing his passion for the outdoors, which he did in college by working as an outdoor recreation leader and as Co-Vice President to his university’s outdoor club, “Into the Wild.” As a CivicSpark Fellow, he hopes to be able to empower the community of Perris, CA to tackle water-related issues through education, communication, and outreach. Sam also seeks to build professional skills in sustainability outreach through working for the Eastern Municipal Water District and their staff. Sam is ultimately looking to help Californians understand and mitigate their water resources issues, and build a more equitable future for those living in need.
