Fellow Bio:

Kristyn received her degree in Environmental Studies with an emphasis in Urban, Regional, and Environmental Planning from University of California, Santa Barbara. There, she worked with the UCSB Sustainability Program in various roles and co-founded the UCen Sustainability Taskforce, bringing about $60,000 of sustainability improvements to her campus. In this time, she also worked with the California Student Sustainability Coalition, where she created a writing internship program for students interested in sustainability and science writing. Kristyn is joining CivicSpark because the program provides professional development in an environment that promotes interdisciplinary skill sets to solve sustainability issues. Through this service year, she hopes to gain a deeper understanding of energy efficiency and to build her quantitative analytic skills. In her spare time, Kristyn likes to cook, hike, and visit comic book conventions.
